FAQs - Web Design FAQ
How Long Will It Take For My Web Project To Be Completed?

The timescale of a website design project is often dictated by the client. If you have a deadline in mind I will do my best to meet it for you. The most common delay in the creation and completion of a new website is waiting for content (text/images) to be sent by the client. For most projects, I try to work within the 4 - 6 week time frame.

Will We Need To Have A Face-To-Face Meeting To Begin The Project?

In the majority of cases a meeting isn’t necessary and most of my websites are generally completed with contact via email and telephone only. I’ll place suggested website designs online for you to view the work in progress. This way we can have regular communication to ensure you are getting exactly what you expect.

How Should I Supply The Content For My Website?

It is best if you are able to provide text and photographs in electronic form – for example, the files output by a digital camera and the copy in MS Word or similar format. If this is not possible, I can help get your information ready for use on the website. I will also provide instructions on how to upload the material via FTP or Dropbox.

We don’t have a lot of high quality images so what do you suggest?

There are a number of websites that offer affordable stock images for use in website design projects. Most images cost less than twenty dollars per high-resolution image. I typically recommend and If you like one of my photos or my clients’ photos, it was probably purchased at one of these websites.

Can I update my website after launch?

The beauty of Joomla! is the ease of use it provides. Each website design project will include one hour of Joomla! training, so most clients are more than capable of updating and adding website pages as needed. Since some clients do not want to maintain their own websites, DWD offers ongoing maintenance.

Do I Get Email Addresses Associated With My Website?

Yes.  You will receive custom email addresses with the domain of your website.  The number of addresses you receive depends on the package you choose and extra email accounts are always available.

Can I See How Many Visitors I've Had To My Website?

Absolutely! I install Google Analytics web tracking software which records bounce rates, where your visitors are coming from, which pages they looked at, how long they were on the site, which search engines are being used, which phrases are being typed into which search engines and much more data which you will find useful for future marketing campaigns.

What kind of hosting do I need to support my Joomla! website?

Joomla! runs best on a Linux server with PHP 5 capabilities. Most hosting companies will easily support these requirements. If you have any concern on your hosting company’s support options, I am happy to investigate your existing hosting package and provide assistance with new hosting if needed. If shared hosting is enough for you, I’m a big fan and affiliate of HostGator.

Do You Guarantee That My Site Will Always Be Available?

No web hosting service can guarantees 100% uptime. However, I can say that my servers boast blazing speeds and guarantee a 99.9% uptime. Should the servers have any problems, I do have the necessary backups in place to deal with this issue quickly.

All of my websites are designed around Google’s guidelines for organic SEO. In addition to having a search engine friendly website, I will create a sitemap.xml file and submit it to Google and Bing upon launch.
